We love our wyandotte ladies. Classy young girls looking racy and sleek before they mature out to be curvaceous laced hens of standing and character.
Classification: Heavy Breed
The ever striking wyandotte with its exquisite lacing (although not all are laced) is another much admired breed. Its popularity is due not only to its looks but also to the fact that it is an ideal dual purpose backyard fowl. The wyandotte history is comparatively young. It was only in 1883 when the silver laced version was finally standardized in America. The breed acquired its name from a native North American tribe called the Wendat (which in time became corrupted and pronounced by the settlers as wyandotte) After 1883 the silver laced version travelled to British shores and the English poultry fanciers set to work on improving the lacing, ground colour and developing new colour varieties. Today wyandotte come in a wide range of colours. They have a rather rotund appearance and are curvaceous ladies with slightly loose feathers that make them look fluffy. We find them to be slightly more susceptible to common backyard viruses than other breeds. Their calm and docile nature and strong character make them a big winner with first time chicken owners. We have kept the wyandotte for many years and find the breed be average to good layers: they are a bit slow to come into lay in each spring but once they get under way they lay well.
Please note we no longer keep any varieties of this breed.
Our Guinea Pigs are loving their new outdoor cage. Prompt delivery. Took a bit to put it together but it looks great and the quality is excellent. It will last for some time which is what we wanted.

Omlet run high rise arrived super quick with good delivery and great communication with the business :) The building challenged us... But was great for a kit set product we got there! Then we ordered the eglu hutch and the shipping was a little annoying considering we brought the run a week prior. Thanks for these great products Appletons!

I love their products and the service is always prompt. My only little grumble would be the cost of the courier......a little expensive.

Arrived very promptly , the instructions were a little difficult to follow initially but finally managed to work it out. I did find the top gate closure did not slot into the hole , perhaps I got the wrong bit of pole but I did try them all , just drilled another hole closer to the top fixed the problem. Did adapt it a little to suit my plan in regards to placing the gate but is working well

The second fence went up much more quickly than the first....but not too much drama if you follow the instruction booklet carefully. The fences work well, with nil escapee's and are more suited to stone free ground.
While not causing an issue, there was a fault with the mesh diameter on one fence, which has 3 small squares 30mm or so about the middle then expanding approx. half way along to all 50mm squares, this led to a spare square at the top for half the fence, giving rise to several comments about reading instructions akin to map reading. Good product and great service as is the norm with Appletons.
