You are welcome to collect from our store in Brightwater or Appletons can ship your order in a range of ways depending on the product/s you are purchasing. To see the delivery options and delivery pricing simply place an item in the basket in your shopping cart and put in your address details and proceed to the next step. This will be true for all our smaller items but larger items like timber animal housing, Omlet cube chicken coops and Omlet pet enclosures will need to be manually worked out to get you the best delivery price. We are happy to provide quotes over the phone/email or you are most welcome to place an order and only on approval of your delivery cost will we go ahead and process your order.

For local customers with pre-arranged feed orders (peak layer, grit and wood shavings) we also have a pick up point in Stoke. Please remember to call Val to arrange your pick up prior to heading out to collect.

Our orders are dispatched either by Courier (Post Haste Couriers) or via Carrier (Mainfreight).


 

JULY 2019

Please note we have had to increase some our shipping prices as of the 1st July 2019. This is our first courier price increase in 4 years. Previously as a company we have been absorbing the annual increases ourselves and can no longer afford to do so. The Fuel Adjustment Factor (FAF)and Road User Chargers (RUC) keep climbing year on year and do not help either!

The introduction of a new residential ticket on all residential deliveries as of 1st July ($3) has added additional cost to those wanting deliveries to residential addresses. There has always been an additional rural ticket ($6.75) required for rural/non-urban deliveries but now a residential ticket has been added too. This is to help the town delivery contractors achieve a better wage for what they do plus achieve a more efficient delivery service for you too.

We have always set our rural ticket at $5 but now the real cost to us is actual closer to $7. Sorry we can no longer afford to subsidise rural deliveries and will need to pass this cost on to you our valued customers. Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with our products and services, we appreciate your ongoing support.

 


For all Smaller Items we Courier

We courier nationwide. We use Post Haste Couriers as our preferred National Courier for all smaller items. We find them reliable and they offer us a very good service. When ordering please select your delivery address carefully to avoid delays. Please note we cannot courier to PO Box numbers. Our courier collects our packed orders early in the afternoon Monday to Friday. For orders received prior to 12 noon we will do our best to dispatch same day. Any order received after 12pm will be dispatched the following day.

Shipping costs will be calculated at the checkout. Please see below for rough idea of ticket costs.

National Residential or Business Delivery
Please note delivery is available weekdays only -  Monday to Friday.
South Island residential & business addresses are usually next day delivery but can take a day longer.
North Island residential & business addresses are on a two day ticket but can take an extra day or two.
If wanting a Saturday overnight delivery please select the Saturday delivery option.

Please note Posthaste and their contactors do their best to deliver within the allocated time frames but sometimes delivery can take longer. We do not offer refunds on shipping if your parcel is not delivery within your expected delivery time frame.

Overnight Delivery to North Island Residential & Business Addresses
This option will appear if your address is a North Island residential or business address but please remember delivery is Monday to Friday. If you would like a Saturday delivery please see if it is available first by putting your address in here and checking whether Saturday delivery is available. Posthaste do their best to get the OVERNIGHT deliveries there on time but sometimes due to natural disasters, snow, road closures, severe flooding, cancelled flights and over capacity at Christmas time etc. it cannot always be guaranteed. Please note we do not offer refunds on shipping if parcels are not delivered next day. We do our very best and they do their best so please be understanding if your order has not arrived on time. We are more than happy to over you a giftcard to the value of the difference between overnight delivery and standard delivery if the delay is due to a Posthaste human error. Unfortunately delays due to weather events and natural disasters are out of everyones control and we cannot plan and compensate for these.

National Rural or Non-Urban Delivery 
These addresses require an additional ticket and usually take a day or two longer to deliver as most will be delivered by your rural Postie or Contractor.

Posthaste does not use the NZ Post code system so their rural/non-urban classifications are sometimes different to that of NZ Post.

No One home?
Post Haste delivers Monday to Friday and should there be no-one at home the driver will leave a card or attempt a re-delivery. If you request a non-signature delivery or 'leave at door' or 'on back porch' or similar we cannot be responsible for these goods if you return home and they are no longer there. So please note if you request this option it is at your risk. 

Shipping Cost
Please note that our website calculates shipping based on the volume of an item. Sometimes multiple products purchased on the same order number can result in combined shipping. We do our very best when packing the order to ship the order the most cost effective way. If we do manage to save by combining shipping then we will offer an e-gift card to the value of the savings.

Waiheke, Great Barrier, Stewart and Chatham Island Addresses incure Additional Costs
Courier prices are based on all mainland addresses for both North and South Islands. We will notify you of these additional charges on receiving your order. 

Waiheke Island : The additional cost to Waiheke Island is included in your ticket on ordering if you use the Waiheke Postcode. The additional cost is $32 per parcel.

Great Barrier : An additional manual charge of $44 per parcel will be added once on receipt of your order. For our customers on Great Barrier we normally sent to My Sky Auckland and they arrange for their own delivery from there.

Chatam Islands: An additional manual charge of $25 plus $5.00 per 1kg thereafter will be added on receipt of order.

Stewart Island: An additional manual charge of $8 per parcel will be applied on receipt of your order.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
We love planet earth and like to think about future generations. We do our very best each time we parcel up an order to recycle packaging boxes and packaging material and thus produce minimal waste. Where we can we re-use packing paper. In our hatching egg boxes we use recycle shredded paper to keep eggs safe. Thank you to the local Richmond companies that give us the opportunity to give their unwanted boxes and used packing paper a second life! Please note we still need to send out our liquids in plastic bags. If you prefer not to have yours in a plastic bag let us know.


For all Larger Items we Ship with Mainfreight

We deliver nationwide either to your door or to the nearest Mainfreight Depot for collection. We are happy to provide a freight price on application for all larger consignments like coops, hen houses and animal housing. Depending on what items are purchased we will do our best to get the best price for you. Freight will vary according to size and weight of items purchased and we can certainly combine shipping.

All our timber poultry and animal housing is built to pre-assembled kitset specifications for more cost effective freighting.

Kitsets are flat packed and shrink wrapped prior to dispatch if sent with our carrier. We use Mainfreight as our carrier and can freight to your closest Mainfreight depot or direct to your home address. For quotes please provide us with your nearest town and/or your full delivery address. We can also assist with local delivery please enquire as to price. We can supply all you need to get started: chooks, feed, wood shavings, drinker and feeder. If freighting we can usually include these items within the kitset at no additional freight charge so consider investing in a purpose-built feeder and drinker plus some untreated wood shavings for your new hen house. Please note due to fluctuating fuel prices and the FAF our freight quotes are only valid for 30 days.

You are most welcome to arrange your own shipping from our yard. We have loading facilites on site. Hen houses can be collected assembled or talk to us about flat-packing and shrinkwarapping onto a pallet for you. We charge a $42 to flat-pack and shrink wrap your henhouse onto a pallet for transport by another carrier. Please ensure your carrier has transit insurance cover.

All Ready To Go
Once your order is ready to dispatch on Mainfreight we will notify you via email that it is on its way and let you know the Mainfreight Consignment Number. We also add your email contact to the Mainfreight tracking system so that you, as the customer, receive regular email alerts as to the status of your consignment: In Transit, At Delivery Depot, Out for Delivery and Delivered. Once our consignment has reach the delivery depot that Depot will give you a call to let you know it is either at the depot for collection or they will arrange a suitable delivery time with you. Please note if your order arrives damaged, please note it on the delivery docket, photograph the consignment and let us and Mainfreight know immediately.

Delivery Time-Frames
Mainfreight do their very best to deliver your consignment as soon as possible. Deliveries to Wellington, Blenheim and Christchurch Depots are usually next day but can take an extra day if freight volumes are high. Deliveries to all North Island Depots north of Wellington plus Oamaru, Cromwell, Timaru, Gore, Dunedin and Invercargill takes two days to three days. If your address is rural then your consifgnment is sent out on a zone truck which can add a day or two onto delivery times. Please note zone trucks do not deliver every week day to every rural area as it is not cost effective. Please be realistic when taking into account delivery time-frames especially over peak times when volumes of freight increase hugley ie: Christmas. Any consignments being sent that are time specific we would recommend adding an SSR (Special Service Request) which will add an additional $62.50 to the cost of freight.


Collection of Birds is Preferred

Please bring a good sized box (with holes!) or pet carry cage to take your girls home in. We can make up travel boxes but we do have a small charge for these!

As of the end of March 2019 we will no longer be able to ship birds with Mainfreight. Due to new health and safely rules and regs they can no longer take our lovely feathered friends on board. We are currently looking for a new carrier as Cool Critter Cartage is also no longer in operation. Untill further notice we will therefore not be able to ship our birds to main centre depots for collection.

 


Courier of Hatching Eggs

If ordering hatching eggs we send them with the Courier. Eggs are couriered using the two day service on a Monday and Tuesday allowing for ample time for delivery prior to the weekend to avoid parcels sitting idle in depots. Please note we sell a minimum of 6 hatching eggs.

We can overnight to North Island residential & business addresses for next day delivery Monday to Friday but this does encur an additional charge. Cost for OVERNIGHT NI town delivery is $39. Waiheke Island and the Chatham Islands incure a surcharge of $32 per parcel. Stewart Island has a surcharge of $8 per parcel. 

We believe in doing the best we can to ensure our hatching eggs have the best chances of success. Eggs are individually wrapped and boxed and well protected with shredded paper so high summer temperatures do not affect them. We courier at the beginning of the week to avoid unnecessary postal delays and the risk of eggs sitting idle in depots over weekends.
